Taking Kratom with Coffee is true synergism. Kratom and Coffee are psychomotor stimulants that act primarily to stimulate the central nervous system (CNS). Psychomotor stimulants like Coffee and Kratom, cause excitement and euphoria, decrease feelings of fatigue and increase motor activity.
Mixing Kratom and Coffee potentiates the effects of the two drugs.
What is Coffee made up of and how does it work?
The main constituent in coffee is a type of methylxanthine known as caffeine, the most widely used stimulant in the world.
Caffeine works in our body by different mechanisms. It causes translocation of extracellular calcium, an increase in cyclic adenosine monophosphate and cyclic guanosine monophosphate generated by interference of phosphodiesterase and blockade of adenosine receptors.
Growth in camp and cGMP enhances the stimulatory effects and inhibition of phosphodiesterase enzymes prevents the destruction of these second messengers (cAMP, cGMP).
Action of Coffee on the human body
The caffeine included in one to two cups of coffee (100-200mg) causes a reduction in fatigue and increased mental sharpness as a result of stimulating the cortex and other areas of the brain.
Consumption of 1.5g of caffeine (12-15 cups of coffee) produces anxiety and tremors. The spinal cord is stimulated only by very high doses (2-5g) of caffeine.
A high dose of caffeine also acts on heart, causing it to beat rapidly and contract with greater force. It also has a mild diuretic action that increases the urinary output of sodium, chloride, and potassium.
It enhances the secretion of hydrochloric acid from the gastric mucosa. It relaxes the smooth muscle of bronchioles and thus it can be used in patients with asthma.
Why mix Kratom with Coffee?
For many people, the morning ritual comprises of drinking a cup of coffee and then heading to the office. Consuming Kratom may affect this ritual but it’s no more a problem, as combining coffee with Kratom can make you even more energetic and alert.
Though the two drugs are bitter in taste, adding sugar and cream can help substantially. Kratom should, however, be ground well so that it can mix with coffee quickly.
Kratom and Coffee combination effects
Taking Kratom and Coffee together means that you are expecting to have stimulatory effects. However, this may not be the case.
High doses of Kratom usually end up in sedation while small doses of Kratom are responsible for giving you that stimulatory effect.
Therefore, it is necessary that you take Kratom at small doses. Otherwise, the relaxing effects of Kratom will negate the stimulation caused by Coffee.
Mixing the two drugs and then consuming it will make you feel energetic. Drinking too much coffee can be unpleasant it causes anxiety, and one becomes jittery, on the other hand as mentioned earlier, taking high doses of Kratom will allow you to have a soothing feeling and a relaxed state of mind.
To amplify the positive effects of both drugs, mix them, and you will get a stronger and a long-lasting boost of energy.

Jennifer,
I have read your article about the ups and downsides to mixing Kratom and Coffee, it’s a good article, I found it to be very thorough. I have been using Kratom for about 3 months to help get me off Buprenorphine (i.e. Suboxone), actually, Buprenorphine is one of the two ingredients in Suboxone. My only thought was, are you suggesting, when you are making your coffee, do you mix in the Kratom powder with the coffee grains, then cook them both together? Can you do that, or do you risk destroying the alkalines? I am aware that at some temperature Kratom does break down and that can ruin any positive effects of the plant. For no particular reason, I started to make the coffee first, then pour it into a cup, add milk and sugar, then add 2-3 grams of Kraton. I’d like to know your thoughts, thanks.
